The zombie genre spans over many years, with films and cartoon books going back to the 1940s and 50s. For who knows what reason, millions of people all over the world are spellbound by the living dead. From the black and white films starting in the 50s and 60s to the comics and films still being made today, undead are definitely a very significant part of popular culture, and not only in the U.S. Folk of every age who live in states abroad have an interest in living dead too. In recent times there were more zombie flicks made than ever seen before.
Perhaps one of the best examples of zombie-fever can be seen in the Resident Evil Playstation game and movie series. Originally designed for the Playstation platform, this video game series quickly increased in popularity, giving way to a similarly popular trilogy film series with another one shortly to come. Night of the Living Dead was one of the first zombie movies ever filmed, breaking onto the cinema screen and regardless of its mixed opinions, gave birth to a totally new genre.
Cartoon books have been a serious part of the zombie genre also , with old horror comics published in the 1950s when it began. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on the zombie genre, between comics, computer games, and other products associated with the undead. Though there are actually other nations around the world that have the same sort of fascination, the US is unique in its obsession with the gloomy. Plenty of the flicks and computer games pertaining to undead have been made in the U. S. , for example the Resident Evil series and “Night of the Living Dead”. Since the 1st zombie-related comic was formed in 1949, it has been a part of the public consciousness and a sub culture of its own.
There have also been many items published about zombies, including Wes Craven’s books like “The Serpent and the Rainbow” to more modern “The Zombie Survival Guide” by Max Brooks. As far as modern films are concerned there are lots of others besides the Resident Evil series. Zombieland is a fine example of a modern zombie movie which mixes components of comedy with romanticism and horror. The zombie genre as a whole is continually changing, with some aspects always remaining the same.
Zombie video console games are still commonplace, with an increasing number of platforms coming out with new undead journeys for players to go through and enjoy. Among the more popular zombie video games today are Resident Evil, House of the Dead, and Left 4 Dead. Even modern music couldn't escape the zombie craze, with musicians such as Rob Zombie making music which is heavily influenced by many zombie films and similar sorts of flicks and television shows e. G The Munsters. It appears as if undead will always be part of popular culture in just about every country. Between the video games, books, comics, and films, it is a popular point of interest which isn’t going to go soonish.
