Naruto is an action and comedy packed animation series which has Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja kid at the centre of its story.

It was originally created for TV Tokyo, the Japanese channel and was produced by Studio Pierrot. Studio Pierrot produced the series which was actually created by Masashi Kishimoto and immortalized in the Japanese comic called manga in 1997.

The series was broadcasted on TV Tokyo from October 3, 2002 to February 8, 2007 and was first made in the Japanese language which was later translated into English for telecast in cartoon network’s toonami division. With the series soon climbing the popularity charts cartoon network brought the series to its main channel to cater to its vast fan following.

The story unfolds in Konohagakure, one among the 5 great Shinobi nations in the Naruto world. It is one among the five great Shinobi nations and it is here where Naruto engages in all kinds of mischief trying to prove his bravery and expertise in ninja. He constantly engages in one or the other adventure in an effort to grab attention and to exhibit his ninja skills to become the Hokage, the title equal to the rulers of the country. All characters of this animated series like Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno have been beautifully crafted and woven into the story.

Jetix UK and Bionix were also leading telecasters of the popular Naruto episodes. The original manga had 27 volumes and the animation series had 220 episodes concocting both the raw story and some additional plotting. Despite having around 220 episodes only 209 episodes were telecast with the final one shown in January 2009. Fans are hopeful that rumors of Viz resuming the telecast of the popular series will be confirmed soon.

It’s not game over yet for Naruto’s fans as the producers are offering DVDs which have the famous ninja kid’s episodes. Although they have been compressed, there is not much change to the episodes available in the DVDs. There are also DVDs containing episodes of the series for every season and some containing selected scenes of the series. The first 135 episodes have been brought into a single DVD called Naruto The Best Scene. The episodes can also be watched online on video sharing sites and myspace, youtube etc. Naruto has also been immortalized in a movie version which is great news for all diehard fans of the Naruto episodes and escapades.
