I have to hold my hands up, every previous year I have completely written off X Factor as trashy telly, refused to watch it and mocked everyone that did. Things have changed however in 2010, after being forced into watching a couple of episodes a few weeks ago, I’ve become hooked. I wholeheartedly agree with the common crticisms thrown at the show but for some reason, I don’t care this year, the show is often the highlight of my weekends!! You will either love or this article, so for those of you X Factor fanatics out there who are bored waiting for your flight at Heathrow airport hotels or Gatwick airport hotels, here are my top 5 contestants this year, in no particular order.
- Matt Cardel
Matt, is, in my opinion the most vocally talented artists on the show. His performances are spellbinding and emotional.
- Katie Waissel
Looking like an 1980′s throwback, Katie certainly has a unique style, never more so than in her debut last-sixteen performance when she sang Queen wearing the most outrages headgear this side of lady Gaga. This was widely criticized but after her shaky start, Katie got back on track last week with a breath taking performance. A dark horse hat doesn’t deserve to be singing in Manchester airport hotels.
- Paije Richardson
Paije has a warm personality to match is smooth, instantly lovable voice. Sounding like a bluesy-soul singer, Paije can belt out the notes without looking like he’s making an effort.
- Cher Lloyd
A confident, head turning performance at the audition stages made everyone sit up and take notice of Cher, since then she’s had her ups and downs but unpopular song choices have not helped her. A stand out performance at the auditions got her through and she made to the final 16 despite faltering at the judge’s house. A sassy attitude and an ability to rap as well as sing make her stand out from the crowd.
- Aiden Grimshaw
Aiden is a dark and mysterious character. His voice has a haunting quality and his performances are absorbing but he is constantly told by the judges to open up to the audience.
