Beaming us up- the re-birth of star trek

The new Trek movie has engaged the warp drive and beamed the general public aboard -i have no idea what ive just said there. But we do know that the new movie has managed to get people interested again in the adventures of Kirk and Spock. The film has taken $73 million in its opening weekend, so is this going to see us get more Trek movies?
The film takes alook at younger versions of the crew of the enterprise to a time before Kirk became captain of the enterprise, and joins in Starfleet. We’re shown how the enterprises crew is brought together- from Dr McCoy, to Mr Sulu and of course -Spock. The film also gives us a surprise cameo from a member of the enterprise, but telling would reveal a polt twist, so i wont mention it here. The re-imagining of the series has given it a new lease of life. No tv shows had been made or no films in prodcution for awhile as interest had started dwindling. The last film took place in 2002, and their are rumours that another Star Trek tv show was cancelled, due to what studios felt was flagging interest. Like the Kirk/ Picard battles this has split Trek fans into two camps, as some people are caring for the added action over intelligent plot, which is probably what is making it more accessible to the general public. So what does the success of this prequel mean? The possiblity of this Star Trek crew making another movie, and maybe that canned tv show will be green lighted once again?
Most of the films humor comes from actor/writer of zombie comedy ‘Shaun of the dead’s Simon Pegg, playing engineer Scotty. So why has this movie brought the franchise back? Everyone knows the original crew for the most part, its been given a sense of humor and much more action than the original tv series -It seems to be everything that a summer blockbuster needs to be.
